It is almost hard to believe that it has been five years since Galen and I started Great River Remodeling. I thought I would take a look back at some of the past projects we have done. This was one of my favorites. It highlighted our ability to handle insurance restoration on a scale bigger than just hail damage. We called it “Car vs Garage”. We were referred to this customer who had a family member suffer a mechanical failure resulting in a stuck accelerator pedal. Fortunately nobody was hurt. The car came to a rest with some assistance from a tree in the back yard. Before it did however, it went straight through the garage and the rear garage service door. As you can see, the damage was quite extensive.
After installing temporary supports and boarding up the front doors, we started to assess what needed to be replaced. Besides the obvious framing and garage door damage, we saw a few things had really been pushed out of order. The foundation blocks needed to be replaced in spots, and the 6 month old Cultured Stone work over the gable of the garage was cracked in quite a few places. The homeowner was really pleased with the finished product, and the insurance company appreciated our clear communication and well-documented estimates. While I do not wish these catastrophes on people, we enjoyed the opportunity to serve our customer’s needs and would like to do more of these types of projects.
